ABOUT:
Unique shape with a fun pop of color! I love the versatility and stackability of gypsy bands, especially the chunky ones that also make a statement alone, and this one is quite special. I have found it somewhat uncommon to find Emerald gypsy bands, (I most often find them with sapphires, rubies or just diamonds) so I was thrilled to find this one. And with the emerald possessing such a gorgeous color, sheen and polish, as they can often be heavily abraided with a matte finish.
Another thing about it that makes it unique is the sturdy shank - which is round around the finger opening and a cushioned square shape on the outside. This gives this French vintage ring a great geometric look. This one layers well with other pieces but is also quite substantial to be worn alone.
I actually found this one in Sweden but it is French in origin, with the French hallmark for 18k gold (partial / worn stamp but still legible) and a goldsmith stamp It has a nice and sturdy hand feel. Inside the ring face are interesting triangular cutouts behind the stones to allow the light to pass through.
It is pretty fabulous and a lot of fun to wear. A great unisex design.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 7 1/4 on a mandrel but seems to fit around a size 7 due to the width. The face is 8.5mm north to south remaining wide towards the back at 8mm and stands 3.6mm off the finger. It weighs a sturdy 10.2 grams. The diamonds are about 2.2mm and the emerald is about 7mm by 4.8mm.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
All my pieces are preowned and in estate condition. The emerald has eye visible natural frosty inclusions within the stone. The surface has some nicks and nibbles and a few deeper scratches but this is seen more when you study the surface in a reflection or look at it under magnification. It does not appear dull or matte finish and has a nice sheen overall. It has a gorgeous deep green hue. The diamonds are eye clean. There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings, including the camera phone. Fun one to wear and stack.
Please note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.
Please also note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
