ABOUT:
Awesome shimmer and shine to this French vintage tubogas chain. You would not believe the amazing hand feel. This beast of 18k gold (solid - Not plated, cased or gold filled) fabrication weighs over 43 grams of real gold with a 3D springy coiled affect from the tubogas fabrication. It's flexible, sturdy but semi hollow for movement since it is made with coiled gold but very heavy hand feel. It is so sleek and shimmery that it is perfect to layer and is plenty eye catching to glimmer and glow when worn alone.
Shorter length at 14 inches, it is meant to wear close up around the neck so that the bezel set diamond faces out front and center. The diamond is a fun accent, bezel set and measuring around .55 carat to give some fun sparkle.
The construction allows the chain to bend and flex, giving it a smooth and liquidy but also springy movement. Super sturdy and well made, appearing even more substantial than its incredible weight due to the fabrication.
Found in France, with their 18k hallmark on the loop and a partial goldsmith stamp.
Props, bannisters, mice, ; ) other items not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.
MEASUREMENTS:
HEAVY! It weighs 43.3 grams so in materials alone this one has an amazing gold value.
It's a short / choker length at 14 inches. It has some give because it is a spring but I'm not sure about comfort having it worn super tightly where it would have to stretch a ton.
The chain is about 6.5mm wide by 5mm deep.
The diamond is about 5.2mm and measures about .55 carat.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Awesome condition for a preowned piece with no kinks, no dings, no dents or crimps. Just faint surface wear. No damage to the diamond which is eye clean but has a few frosty flecks under magnification, some of it from the fact that you can't get to the back of the stone to clean it, the way it nests into the chain but it is not foiled or anything where there is any concern of rust or darkening behind the diamond. There is a little unevenness to the tongue insert of the clasp that appears to have been done in the making, the clasp is super secure, snaps closed and has an added security catch so this fun retro beast is ready to wear. You might see in some of the pics when I am handling it, the diamond faces down, but when wearing tighter around the neck, it faces outward. This is how it was made.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
