ABOUT:
Unique shapes with a fun pop of color! I love the versatility and stackability of gypsy bands, especially the chunky ones that also make a statement alone, and this one is quite special. I have found it somewhat uncommon to find Emerald gypsy bands, (I most often find them with sapphires or just diamonds) so I was thrilled to find this one not only with an emerald but with the unique hexagonal shield cut diamonds on each side.
This is a substantial one with a wonderful glow and the color to the natural emerald is...wow. The emerald is in excellent condition too (we often find vintage pieces where the emerald is scuffed and braided). Found in Paris - Hallmarked for French 18k gold with a goldsmith stamp, it has a nice and sturdy hand feel.
The stones are each set in a slightly raised and equally geometric bezel to match each of the stones. These add an interesting architectural detail the way they step up from the weighty, domed ring face.
It is pretty fabulous and a lot of fun to wear. Could be considered a unisex design. It is also a lot of fun to wear with other bands, diamonds or textured geometric pieces - see my website for plenty of ideas and examples as this week's drop includes a lot of fun stackers.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 5 1/4, super sturdy - you would want to discuss with your local jeweler to determine their comfort level with sizing and to what extent as it depends on the person doing the work, often you can text or email photos from the listing for feedback.
The ring face is 11mm north to south tapering towards the back and stands 5.2mm off the finger. It weighs a very sturdy 10.2 grams. The diamond are about 4.6x4.2mm. I would not remove the stones to measure them and had trouble finding comps with these measurements and shape but as a very loose estimate, around .35 carat each / .7 carat total weight? This is based on a triangular cut diamond which measures about .28 carat with these length / width measurements and these widen out at the sides for a larger carat weight than a triangular stone. The emerald is about 6.5mm square.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
All my pieces are preowned and in estate condition. The diamonds may appear a bit subdued in the videos but this is because they are flush set into the ring face. This is part of the design, which is amazing, but just something to note that it reflects the light differently than when diamonds are propped up in prongs to catch the light. One of the diamonds is eye clean, the other has two tiny carbon specks, not eye visible to my eyes which are in their forties, but can be seen under magnification. The emerald is in excellent condition with really no nicks or abrasions which we would commonly find, it does have some natural inclusions, but a rich green color. The emerald can move slightly in the setting but is super secure in the sturdy bezel. It does not rattle so it is not noticeable while wearing but can sometimes click when you tap it. Some surface wear to the gold, one shoulder has some deeper scratches, made more notable by its mirrored finish but a wonderful piece. There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings, including the trees outside the window. Fun one to wear and stack with the best geometry!
Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
