IVY Clover Pearl ANTIQUE French Belle Epoque 18k Gold Pendant Figural Medallion Love Medal Token Good Luck Charm

ABOUT:
A special French medallion with delicious gold work depicting a clover at center and a halo of Ivy leaves around the open work pendant. The center is set with a pearl.

Larger size than many of my other ones, this one is about an inch in diameter. I love seeing the textured gold work the French were masters at during this period. It's just so pretty.

The ivy motif was popular in olden times in jewelry as it represents life and eternity (essentially immortality), along with clinging attachment. It also was used to express fidelity and friendship. And then of course the good luck charm clover at center.

Found in France with their hallmark for 18k gold.

Any props not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos..

MEASUREMENTS:
25mm in diameter (not including the attached loop or jump ring.
Weight: 3.2 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

The pattern is nice and crisp, very easily legible but this one has some signs of age and wear. The tips of the leaves used to be connected to the halo and have come free with tiny breaks to the gold, but the center clover doesn't flex or move or anything, it is still connected in two points. The loop looks like it was reinforced and there is a bit of build up of adhesive around the pearl but all these things are seen mostly when studying under magnification and not really glaring with normal wear. Also from age, it has a slight curve to it, a ripple here or there, especially seen if you view it from the side or from the back where you can see it is no longer perfectly flat but again, with the detail and open work details, it is not glaringly visible while wearing but I have adjusted the price from what I normally sell these for.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
