IVY French Art Deco Antique 12g 18k Gold Solid Two Tone Necklace Drapery Paperclip Chain Collar Fan Pendant Figural Architectural Geometric Fanned

ABOUT:

This French antique chain has a geometric / architectural quality with the fanned links, and the added juxtaposition of the raised Ivy details draping down the center of each of the three center panels. Large scale pendants each connected by loop to the next to allow movement with fanned details giving this late Belle Epoque Art Deco piece a unique design. It is crafted in solid two tone 18k gold.

I've had a few of these over the years, but never two exactly alike, sometimes they are half flowers, sometimes they are just geometric links, I've not had one with Ivy before. The ivy motif was popular in the antique period in jewelry as it represents life and eternity (essentially immortality), along with clinging attachment. It also was used to express fidelity and friendship.

The large panels lead to a daintier paperclip like chain in yellow gold. Buttery glow with the contrasting colors to really accent the design.

A unique one! Fun to layer and works with any color - yellow gold, white gold, platinum or silver! I love mixing metals.

Found in France on my recent inventory trip. French hallmarks for 18k gold on the loops.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

It weighs 12.4 grams. 17 inches in length. The largest panels are 30x13mm to give you an idea of scale.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
No real damage, no dents or ripples. The panels are quite thick and sturdy compared to some of the daintier ones I've had. Some antique patina that could be cleaned up further if desired but most of my buyers prefer original patina. It has a rich and warm glow.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
