JULY Dated 1924 Floral French Antique Birthday Month 18k Gold Pendant Paste Ruby Garland Halo Belle Epoque
ABOUT:
I love these French month medals - the way each has the month name in French and each is designed with a different flower motif. This one has an ornate garland halo - textbook French Belle Epoque design we see on some of their love medals and religious medallions.
These are fun to wear throughout the year with the beautiful floral design, or especially if the month is relevant as a birthday, anniversary, etc. As such they make very unique gifts. They are actually somewhat hard to come by.
This one is July - "Juillet" in French. It has an applied and engraved daisy or forget me not motif. It is crafted in beautiful tricolor gold, reading a rich, buttery yellow gold, with rose gold accents in the engraved recesses and green gold on the leaves. It is set with a red paste stone that I assume is meant to look like a ruby.
This one is unique because it is dated on the back in French for March 26, 1924. I wish I knew its story, why a July medal would be dated with a March date : )
French hallmark on the loop for 18k gold.
I loved wearing this piece through the holidays last year. So even if the month of December is not relevant for a birthday or anniversary of yourself or a loved one, this one makes a great holiday gift as well!
Any props not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos..
MEASUREMENTS:
19mm in diameter (not including the attached loop or jump ring.
Weight: 1.3g. Thin gold work with dainty hand feel.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Small surface abrasions the stone seen mostly under magnification. It is a small stone so it is not glaring but seen more under magnification or if you are studying it for flaws which can be done also in the pics.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
