ABOUT:
This garnet cluster came from a broken brooch that had several garnet elements to it. As such they were very lightly worn. I had them converted into pendants and they are in good condition with a lovely sheen overall compared to many pieces from the period that are abraided or scuffed. Please note the measurements!
Glowing juicy berry pinkish reddish purple color. In the wonderful antique cut down collet settings. This is the largest of the bunch. I also have a few other shapes and sizes listed separately.
I purchased the broken brooch when I was in Perpignan, France, and used the salvageable parts to make pendants. Special fabrication found only on these pieces from only this region in France, unique to only being made there in all the world.
These Perpignan pieces are always in 18k gold but no hallmarks remain. The jump rings are in 14k gold for a better patina match to the antique gold.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Some of my buyers "draw out" an example to get an idea of scale in person.
Antique Boxes, props, hooks, chains, mice : ) not included. I just laid it over my staging chain to show examples of how to wear.
MEASUREMENTS:
Weight is 2.1 grams, it measures 20mm to the loop and the cluster is 16mm wide.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Some natural inclusions including a few that carry up to the surface leaving a crease / crevice but this is mostly seen under magnification. Some nicks and nibbles but a wonderful sheen and polish with a beautiful glow, so unique and special to these antique Perpignan pieces. Note the small jump rings chosen for scale of the piece.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
