ABOUT:
Another fun figural antique - this one with a pop of color!
With UK date stamps for 1905, this 9k brooch is set with graduating green stones. I believe they are paste as I can see a few bubbles although there are varying hues so some may be green tourmaline? Varying hues are often an indication of natural stones since cheaper paste can be made to all match with no variations but it could also be a case where the jewelers used what was available to them, as was common in the antique period. They do not test definitively so I am selling as paste to be safe. The 13 green stones are interspersed with rose cut diamond spacers for a little glint of sparkle.

The gold has a beautiful warm antique rosy patina which is a lovely contrast to the greenies! Really striking coloring makes it so beautiful to wear! UK Hallmarks for 9k.

This is currently a whimsical and colorful brooch but could also be used as a connector on the ends of a chain, or converted as desired to a pendant by your local jeweler. I was able to style it with a chain in photos but it does swivel or teeter some as it doesn't want to lie perfectly flat on the decollette with the pin back - but hopefully it gives you an idea of how it would look. Chain not included. Some hook a chain to each end and then use the pin post to run additional dangling charms along the back as a two for one pendant / charm holder. Plenty of ways to wear so I will leave it to the buyer to determine their preference.

The good thing about it being a brooch is that there is little wear to the stones, so that is the trade off when it comes to conversions, as brooches usually end up in about as good condition as can be found on antique jewelry, compared to rings and pendants that show more wear.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Some of my buyers "draw out" an example to get an idea of scale in person.

Antique Boxes, props, chains, bannisters, mice : ) not included.

MEASUREMENTS:

51mm end to end.
Weight: 3 grams.
The stones are 4mm at the largest down to 2mm at the ends.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Slight curve to the pin back but very wearable with a latch on the catch so super sturdy and functioning. One end stones looks like it might have a touch of adhesive on one end. Each stone is held with four little bead prongs that are 120 years old so we typically recommend gentler wear. Stones in better than most condition with a lovely sheen and color. One is chipped to the surface edge but still appears round and fills the setting so it is only seen when studying the surface. The rest have little to no abrasions or nibbles. The pin back has a slightly differing color but it did hold a gold test. Typical antique rose cuts, some are just the tiniest shards, they appear frosty.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

Striking to wear with the figural shape.
