Back from my inventory trip to Europe with so many hand picked one at a time finds! More examples seen in the group photo which also helps with scale : ). Feel free to check out my Instagram to see posts about the trip and where these pieces came from!
ABOUT:
Another piece with a nod to the giardinetti trend. These glittery antique earrings have the most wonderful movement in that they consist of 3 parts that are connected by loops which allow the sections to move independently and dangle beautifully. This way, they catch the light and sparkle.
Each floral leaf dangle design is set with rose cut diamonds for a wonderful glint of sparkle. I purchased these from a dealer friend of mine in Stockholm.
They are crafted in 18k gold and topped in silver as was customary for the period to set diamonds in a white metal. Closed back setting typical for the period with foil backing. The push backs are later and are stamped 750, the numerical hallmark used in Europe for 18k gold.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Some of my buyers draw them out to hold against the person to determine how they wear. Antique box is not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
21mm and 23mm top to bottom, one is missing one little bottom stone but this is not really seen until comparing them side by side, their designs are both lovely. The diamonds are about 2 to 3.5mm each.
The pair weighs 2.95 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Typical antique diamonds with some natural inclusions, some of the smaller stones appearing a bit frosty and some with warmth from age to the foil back but they still have a nice glint of sparkle. These old rose cuts tend to always look this way, with uneven edges and rough spots. The warmth is more noticeable in some lighting conditions than in others, especially when facing directly up where you are looking through the stone to the backing.
We don't recommend 24/7 wear on these antique beauties because with the closed back settings they should not get wet.
A few of the small stones have some tiny flakes of loss leaving an unpolished area at the outside edge that is seen only under magnification. Some of what is seen under magnification may have always just been cut that way,
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
