LION French Antique 18k GOLD Ring .6 Carat Transitional Cut Diamond Mouth Eyes Wide Band 3D Gift Figural Vintage Animal Unisex
ABOUT:
Who doesn't love vintage figural animal jewelry?! They always make a striking conversation piece bringing some whimsy to the ringstack!
Awesome figural 3D French vintage to antique lion ring in 18k gold with a nice sized transitional cut diamond in its mouth measuring about 0.6 carat. It also has two little diamond eyes for an additional glint of sparkle.
Sturdy hand feel over 10 grams with excellent detail. There are little cutouts on the side of the bezel to allow light to pass through for the diamond and to show the bezel set diamond as the piece the lion is holding in its mouth. I love the detailed ring shoulders as well which has the continuation of the mane flowing at each side. The diamonds add an eye catching sparkle.
Very unique design not commonly found. With a sturdy hand feel in a unisex design and size.
In jewelry, lion motifs are frequently incorporated into to represent power and nobility along with courage, leadership and strength.
Found in Paris, France with the French hallmark for 18k gold.
Please note the detailed measurements that I always provide, as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures where I am required to show zoomed in detail.
MEASUREMENTS:
Ring is currently about a size 8 1/2. I would not remove the diamond to get an accurate measurement but it is about 5.4mm in diameter widening out an unknown amount in the bezel. Estimates to around 0.6 carat. The diamonds in the eyes are each around 1.7mm.
It weighs a very sturdy 10.15 grams and the Lion head is about 14mm north to south and 6.7mm tall off the finger.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Please note that all my pieces are in estate condition. Some wear to the shoulder detail but still overall very sharp and legible detail. Typical old cut diamond with a smattering of some very tiny speck inclusions seen under strong magnification only - no large, dark or glaring inclusions and nothing glaringly visible to the eye unless you have really good eyes and you are seeking it out. Some build up tucked up into the recesses of the bezel. I gave it a light cleaning but it could use a little more time in a gentle soak and brush. Pretty, buttery patina, still nicely shaped. Rad piece! Evidence of a sizing to the back but the lion face and shoulders are awesome.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
