Louise's HEART from c1809 Pansy Floral Figural CLASP Pendant Purple Yellow Enamel Georgian Era 18k Gold Solid Engraved Bracelet Charm Parts

This is a release from my personal collection. I got it in Sweden a few years ago. I'm still in love with it so I'll happily slip it back into my jewelry box if it doesn't sell well.

The dainty little piece just has all the provenance and markings that we love to find. On the front side, very discreetly around the flower on the outside of the heart it is engraved Louise with another name, perhaps a last name or her beau's name? I can't quite make it out. These engravings are very discreet, I thought they were just design details until I studied it under magnification.

Then we flip it over to the back of the heart where we see all the awesome old Swedish hallmarks. It has a maker's mark, their hallmark for 18k gold and their date stamp for the year 1809.

Sending a high five through the centuries to the geniuses who implemented date marks on antique jewelry - I just love that added bit of history. I like to google the year when I know it, so I can envision the world when the piece was made. For example, in 1809 Abe Lincoln was born. But let's look for something a bit more obscure - in 1809 Mary Kies was the first woman to be issued a US patent for weaving straw and wearing masks at balls was officially forbidden in Boston. Lol - what fun!

When I bought it they told me the maker was Friedrich Fyrwald of Stockholm.

As I type all this I'm having seller's remorse already. ; ). We often lose soooo much of this fun info over the years.

But I digress. This cutie looks like a pendant but has a tongue insert to come into two parts to wear as a clasp. It would have been attached to a double strand necklace and would be a cute bracelet charm or pendant too, I always wore it just attaching the chain to the top side loops on each side.

Beautiful antique piece with a wonderful buttery glow and a rich and warm antique patina. Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

MEASUREMENTS:
12.5mm north south, 17.6mm loop to loop. Weight is 1.6g.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Super legible, a bit of crazing to the enamel but unbelievably complete in color and design considering age of 217 years. Sturdy clasp functions well!

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
