ABOUT:
A unique antique handmade ring with a large and smooth green jadeite stone encased with gold serpents. This one has a real Arts and Crafts period feel with the gold work and ring shoulders extending to the ring face to add all those swirling details. But the original jadeite and snake piece is likely older, perhaps a Victorian brooch that was converted to a ring. As we can see in the fabrication studying the back that the shank appears to have been added to the gold frame.
The snakes heads are each set with a red paste stone that resembles a garnet. Mr. Mouse says this one is Slytherin House approved and worthy of Medusa's jewelry collection.
Definitely a one of a kind statement piece with striking design. It's a funky one, a unique conversation piece.
Please note the detailed measurements that I always provide, as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures where I am required to show zoomed in detail.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6. The large ring face is 32mm (1.25 inch) by 26mm. It weighs 9.6g.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The stone moves in its frame but is super secure and well surrounded. It just clicks in the setting when shaking the hand aggressively. Quite a lot of antique patina and some dark areas of solder on the back especially and a few points on the front where some of the additional coils were added. It has a great antique look with the patina adding to it in my opinion. Some surface wear but overall a lovely sheen and color.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
