It's that time of year again for Mouse to clean out her house! So I'll be bringing you some releases from my personal collection this week including this one!
I Love jewelry with words!
Every good antique jewelry collection needs a good Mizpah band! These were given as tokens of love or friendship during the Victorian period. This one I really enjoyed with all the textbook floral embossing pattern details surrounding the text. Just a beautiful color and texture with the ornate floral details and the font at the center. I still love this ring but I got a tricolor gold one that I've been reaching for more.
It has a nice soft dome to it and a good thickness, with sturdy, quality hand feel and the letters are still legible where we sometimes see the end ones worn. The floral details carry all the way around the to back of the ring which has just one small section that is a little bit smoothed, but a lovely texture all the way around the ring.
Found in England. UK hallmarks for London, 18k gold, date stamp was lost in a sizing but definitely the old style of hallmarking dating it to the late 1800s.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
It is a size 4 3/4. It weighs 4.4 grams.
The ring face is 7.3mm north south at the widest.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Shank is a bit blunt at the edges from age and wear but a sturdy, legible piece ready for the next 100 years.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
