ABOUT:
I fell in love with this guy when I saw him! Victorian era antique large 10k gold snake head pendant with loops on each end allowing for maximum versatility and wearing options! My favorite part is his "smiling" face with open mouth. He is a show stopper with a large and glossy, glowing blue moonstone set at the top of the head. Gorgeous engraved scale detail on the gold head with little garnet eyes. Nice size, 3D figural piece with superb detail. The ornate engravings even include flowers and then he has that cute little dragon like nose! Love him.
It looks like this was a clasp at one time, as you can see the insert slot on one side of the neck. Now he has loops at both ends making him wearing as a pendant facing up or down, or attached to a chain as a decorative connector or chain extender.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Some of my buyers "draw out" an example to get an idea of scale in person.
Antique Boxes, props, hooks, chains, mice : ) not included. I just used a staging chain to show examples of how to wear but listing is for the snake with attached dog clip.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
It weighs 3.6 grams. The snake head is 37mm / almost 1.5 inch. The head is 13mm wide and 13mm deep. The large blue moonstone is 12x8.5mm
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
As mentioned there is an opening on one side where the clasp used to be. There is a crack to the gold on the nose that is not really noticeable unless you are seeking it out, due to the engravings helping to mask it. There is also a crease that is a bit open on the top back of the neck side right by the loops.
The stones are excellent, the moonstone especially with a wonderful sheen and gorgeous blue glow. There is a shallow impression with weld on one side of the neck opposite the clasp opening, but again the patterns help blend it. Some smoothing marks and shallow impressions to the underside but so fun to wear. Note the smallish loops on each side, not all my dog clips fit.
Note that when wearing around the neck, he doesn't lie flat because he is curved so he can shift some while wearing.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : ) There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings including the green trees out the window.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
