ABOUT:

Another one of my brightest and best from my inventory sourcing trips!  I really enjoyed shopping with the dealer in Barcelona where I acquired this. I bought about 10 wonderful pieces from them and of that pile, this ring was their favorite. Multiple times through our meeting as we'd be discussing pieces, he'd come back to this one and say, "Para mi, es este" ("For me, it's this one") or "Este es el mejor - mi opinion" ("This one is the best, just my opinion!). So I suppose he talked me into it but it isn't hard to see why - it is so incredibly regal!

Five stone stackable bands are always very popular in the shop but this one is a step up with the chunky diamonds and the gorgeous, ornate setting. On the north and south edges, the prongs appear like small crowns leading up to each diamond. It is equally beautiful from the side where the chiseled shoulders are openwork with scrolled details.

It's a beautiful stone with a timeless and on trend setting to match. No hallmarks remain but sold to me as 18k which is the standard there and tested to confirm. Rich and beautiful antique patina with a buttery glow.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6 3/4 on my mandrel. The ring face 8.8mm north south. It is 5.2mm tall off the finger. It weighs 5 grams.

I do not remove my stones from their settings for exact measurements but the center diamond is about 5.4mm chunky cushion cut and around ,67 carat. The flanking two are 4.3 and 4mm / around .3 to .39. The end stones are about .25 carat each. With the lofty crowns, the total carat weight is around 1.8 carats. This is an estimate as I would not remove them from the setting.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
All antique hand cut diamonds of course have a more limited supply since they are no longer made in this way. There are only so many in existence compared to the millions of carats of modern machine cut diamonds made every year. These have withstood the test of time. These antique stones have a better than most clarity. The three center stones are eye clean - Even under magnification there is little to be found. The largest stone has one pinhead indented natural to the crown facet not seen by the eye. One of the flanking stones has a frosty area around the girdle, likely just cut that way, seen under magnification when looking through the stones. The other flanking stone possesses the gorgeous warm pale yellow coloring we love to find in antique stones, but it still faces up quite bright and overall well matching in most lighting conditions. There is also a slight difference in appearance between the stones due to how they reflect the light, the center stone facing upward directly to the buyer, while the side stones are splayed outward, so you are not looking straight into the stone if that makes sense. The end stones are also quite clear, the one just having a few speck inclusions slightly eye visible if seeking it out. They are wonderful stones. And no nicks, chips, cracks, etc.
As far as the setting, this one needs gentler wear or reinforcement for more regular wear as there is wear to the gold prongs from age of the past 150 years. This is typical and expected and can always be reinforced by your local jeweler if desired, you'd want to find someone with a laser welder and ask them to do the minimum possible, vs. making it "like new" which overworks the piece. Most of my buyers prefer occasional wear and original condition so I sell them as is. 3-4 prongs are almost completely worn back but the center prongs are longer and linear so that more of the stone is held in those areas.

Feel free to request more videos and check out my website for more images as I also have it in some group shots which will help you see the stone comparatively to other antique diamonds.

My items do very well without paperwork so I have not sent the stones for certification and would not want to remove it from the gorgeous setting to do so, but I always provide as much detail as possible with measurements, condition notes and many extra photos (see website) to capture it true to life in various lighting conditions, which can be translated to grading scales if desired.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
