ABOUT:

I wish these letters (MP or PM? or perhaps an L, I or T?) held meaning for me as this is the best initial pendant I have found. I count just shy of 100 rose cut diamonds in varying sizes for that crusty antique sparkle we all love so much.

Appears to have been a brooch at one time. It was cleverly converted with a bale attached to a sort of clasp insert so you can click the bale into the tube opening at the back to secure it but it is also removable. Once latched in place it does not move and is super secure so it is excellent fabrication.

Fabulous to wear. Sturdy and large scale crafted in solid silver with the brooch backs and clasp insert in a rosy 18k gold and the bale in 18k yellow gold.

Found in France with their hallmarks for 18k gold and silver.
Antique boxes, chains, props in photos is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

Carat weight is unknown as I would not remove the stones and the depths vary. The stones measure 1.2 to 2.3mm each. Like most rose cuts they have a lower comparative carat weight than a modern diamond but the surface area gives it the appearance of a larger carat stone. Just using a 1.75mm average you're looking at a face up value of 2 carats to this diamond pendant.

It measures 34mm top to bottom not including the bale by 24mm east west. It weighs a very sturdy 10.7 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Hard to believe not a single stone is missing. Typical old rose cut diamonds with some inclusions, nicks, frosty and irregular edges, likely have always been that way as they were rough cut by hand. They are small so this is not really visible to the eye, they just add a nice little glint of sparkle. They do have an overall warm to gray sparkle from the closed back setting which again, they always tend to look this way with a moodier sparkle.

Because the back was a brooch, the posts protrude which prevents it from lying flat against the decollette. I have found that wearing it with a longer chain worked well because pendants on longer chains tend to dangle and teeter by nature, so it allows the pendant to shift and catch the light and sparkle. Versus wearing it on a shorter chain where it lists to one side more noticeably when worn close to the neck.

Please note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights the warmth and any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - PDue to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
