ABOUT:

Love the color and vibrant sparkle on this one with the large sized ring face really catching the eye.
This is a French piece, assembled from two components - the natural blue sapphire and rose cut diamond halo component is antique, and it was attached to a comfort fit wedding band that is dated and engraved for 1958. I wonder if the cluster was a family piece as it is clearly older than the dated band.

The blue glowing color the sapphire is fabulous and it is highlighted by the ten rose cut diamonds in the halo which total around 1 full carat in diamonds. What I like about the fabrication is it stacks beautifully next to bands of similar size. Since the ring face was added atop a wedding band, you can stack multiple bands side by side to where they nest under the ring face, vs. other cluster rings where the band hits the round face and creates a gap.

Sturdy piece in rosy antique patina'd French 18k gold with a buttery glow.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

HALLMARKS:
French hallmark for 18k on the back.

Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:

Ring is currently about a size 7 1/4. Weighs 5.5g. Ring face is 16x14mm by 8.5mm tall of the finger.

The diamonds are about 3.5mm each with varying depths and flat backs. I would not remove them for exact carat weights but just using my caliper, honesty, and estimates by millimeter it is around 1 carat total weight in diamonds. Like most rose cuts they have a lower comparative carat weight than a modern diamond but the surface area gives it the appearance of a larger carat stone.

The sapphire is 6x5.5mm.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Typical antique rose cut diamonds, because of their flat backs and way they are sliced, they are prone to nibbles and chips around the girdles. Several of these have rough edges from small chips and flea bites along with frosty spots from tiny flakes of loss and natural inclusions. And some of this is eye visible. No dark carbon inclusions and a wonderful, bright and clear untamed sparkle to the rose cut diamonds but you can see the irregular edges. A few scuffs under magnification only to the facets of the sapphire, but no chips or abrasions and to the eye the sapphire is fabulous in sheen, polish and color.

A worn prong here or there also typical for age, to keep an eye on over time. Enough remain to hold them securely but something to always keep an eye on with antique jewelry in original condition. Of course re-enforcement is always possible if desired by your local jeweler but most of my buyers opt for more rational wear and original condition. A few scuffs under magnification only to the facets but no chips or abrasions and to the eye the sapphire is fabulous in sheen, polish and color.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
