Old Mine Cut DIAMOND 1.2 Carat Daisy Cluster Ring PLATINUM French Antique Seven Stone
Old Mine Cut DIAMOND 1.2 Carat Daisy Cluster Ring PLATINUM French Antique Seven Stone
ABOUT:
My best selling antique ring styles as of late are daisy clusters, gypsy rings and five or seven stone stackable bands, I can't seem to get enough of them.
This seven stone cluster ring is set chunky, high crowned and unique, square old mine cut diamonds. They have crown facets that are long and triangular scissor cuts with really high crowns. (Mine cuts typically have three rows of facets to the crown whereas these have the single row of long facets). They are more square shaped. Extra chunky with that great antique sparkle. Perhaps a combination of a French cut / Old Mine Cut ? as diamond cutters at the time used their personal knowledge, taste and expertise to enhance each diamond.
It is always fun to find uniquely cut antique diamonds! Adds a nice uniqueness to the piece. Layers well with other pieces! The diamonds are awesome, the center having a long parallelogram shaped open culet, one having a perfectly rectangular open culet - the others each unique having been expertly hand cut so long ago.
French hallmark for platinum.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
MEASUREMENTS:
The diamonds are each about 3.2mm give or take with high crowns cropping out of the ring face. I would not remove them from the antique setting for an exact measurement but estimated around 1.2 carat total weight.
A generous Size 7, slightly over but does not reach 7 1/4. The ring face is 11mm north to south and east west, 5mm tall of the finger. It weighs 4 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Typical antique diamonds with some natural inclusions to some of them while others are eye clean. Nothing largely dark or glaring but some frosty spots and specks only slightly eye visible and one with some tiny carbon specks. There is a nick here or there, two of which are actually indented natural inclusions. Also typical for antique stones in that some of the diamonds have a slight warmth and one a very very slight milkiness to it, this is more noticeable under lit magnification or in very bright, direct sunlight. This one is actually quite fiery compared to many antique pieces, and I love the uniquely shaped hand cut stones. None of the stones move but the prongs show some wear so it could use age appropriate gentle wear and to keep an eye on it over time.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
Thanks so much for looking at my items!
