ABOUT:

An excellent pair of French dormeuse earrings. Crafted in 18k good, these have a gently curved linear bar set with rose cut diamonds, leading down to the old mine cut diamond in the sweet little buttercup setting. The old mines in their settings are attached by a loop to allow them to move and dangle to catch the light.

Considering age of over 100 years, the lever backs are in better than most condition with nice tight hinges and springy lever backs.

French hallmarks for 18k gold and a goldsmith stamp on the ear wires.

Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

23mm from top of the ear wire to bottom of dangle. The buttercup setting is 7mm in diameter by 5mm deep. Each old mine cut is about 4mm with a total carat weight of over half a carat. The pair weighs 2.6 grams combined.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

About as sturdy ear wires and lever backs as can be found. Of course we don't recommend 24/7 wear on these antique pieces with 100 year old gold hinges. Some wear to the prongs to keep an eye on over time but there are a lot of them so each old mine cut is well surrounded. Typical antique diamonds with some faint natural inclusions and frosty spots but no major damage.

I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
