I am selling an assortment of vintage to antique jewelry and rings which I have hunted for and gathered from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!

ABOUT:
A fabulous pair of all original antique diamond earrings with nice size chunky old mine cut diamonds measuring about a carat each! The old mine cuts are lovely, totaling two carats for the pair. They are set in silver collet settings with little prongs. We often see these settings in closed and foil backed settings but these are open backed which make them easier to wear and clean.

These are sort of dormeuse in style but instead of being inserted from the back of the ear, they are easier to wear and put on with curved ear wires that are inserted from the front. At the back are little levers with a catch where they notch into place.

Each earring holds a 6.3mm old mine cut diamond with a wonderful sparkle and good clarity for the period (see detailed notes below). Victorian era pair of earrings that I acquired at an antique market on the east coast. So eye catching and elegant in the lovely antique gold which has a warm and somewhat pale rosy hue. The silver collets were a customary touch as they most often set diamonds in a white metal. They can make the stones look larger but the silver has original patina from over 125 years which is so sought after.

No hallmarks but test at 14k and silver.

Antique Box Is Included! Comes as shown, the box is not original to the earrings but is a pretty one from my own collection as they deserve appropriate housing.

Please note the detailed measurements that I always provide, as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures where I am required to show zoomed in detail.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
The diamonds are each about 6.3mm cushion cuts measuring a little over one carat each totaling around 2 carats total for the pair. This is an estimate as I do not remove stones from their antique settings for exact weights and the settings do now allow a caliper to reach inside for exact depths. The jeweler sold them to me as such and I double checked them with my own calculations.

They measure about 16.5 mm top to bottom from the top of the ear wire to the base of the earring.

This pair of earrings weighs 3.4 grams combined.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

The silver prongs that extend up from the cut down collets are in good condition holding the diamonds in securely from all sides. The lever backs are not spring loaded so they don't snap closed, but once inserted into the catch, it serves as a latch to keep them securely on the ear. Of course we recommend a gentle hand and don't recommend 24/7 wear on these 125+ year old pieces now with their dainty and intricate gold hinges, I'd be hesitant to lie down on them even when in perfect shape.

Typical antique diamonds both with natural inclusions slightly eye visible by GIA standards (estimated SI even though Four C's does not apply to antique diamonds). To my eyes which are in their forties they are eye clean : ) No really large inky spots but rather small smatterings that are more seen with magnification. The largest inclusion is one light gray cloud and the rest are pinpoints and needles. Wonderful antique diamonds in their all original settings and these are quite bright and white. They don't read as warm or yellow when wearing, one has a bit more fluorescence than the other.

No chips or damage of any kind aside from the lever backs not being springy, it's possible they never were. These have all the design attributes that make these antique originals always so popular.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

All items hand picked by me, one at a time from all over the world. All listings individually written by me, and not AI, after studying each piece to discuss its beauties and its ; ) eccentricities (which I am picky to point out).

Many of my listings include group shots – I find the comparisons between pieces help show scale, diamond hues, etc. All items in group shots are inventory, but refer to the website to see what items have sold out and to watch for new listings from the grouping to appear on the home page.
