I am selling an assortment of vintage to antique jewelry and rings which I have hunted for and gathered from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!
ABOUT:
Bright and sparkly and perfect to dress up or down! The ever popular daisy cluster design makes these all original antique diamond earrings a perfect staple pair.
I got these in Paris and have a daisy cluster ring that makes a great match to these, even though I purchased them in different places in France, it was a happy coincidence that they look so great together - see my other listings.
These look like the classic French dormeuse design but they are easier to wear in that they have standard ear wires with a lever back that latches to the ear hook (vs. the dormeuse style that are inserted from the back of the ear and latched into the front which are a bit more finicky to put on.). Above the cluster is an additional little diamond accent for added sparkle.
Further to prove their age, these have the French antique period hallmark for 18k gold on the posts and a cool old serial number stamp from the period. These are excellent! They are topped in platinum as was customary for the period to set the diamonds in a white metal.
Antique Box Is Included! Comes as shown, the box is not original to the earrings and is not a fitted earring box but is a pretty one from my own collection as they deserve appropriate housing.
Please note the detailed measurements that I always provide, as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures where I am required to show zoomed in detail.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
The center diamonds are each about 4.6-4.7mm depending on where you measure and about .46 carat each. The surrounding diamonds are about 3mm each give or take and the little ones up top are 2mm each.
Total carat weight is a little over 2.5 carats for the pair.
This is an estimate as I do not remove stones from their antique settings for exact weights.
They measure about 15 mm top to bottom from the top of the ear wire to the base of the earring. Each cluster is about 12mm wide.
This pair of earrings weighs 5.55 grams combined.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The lever backs have nice tension and latch well so about as can be found for 125+ year old antique earrings with moving parts. I don't ever recommend 24/7 wear as lying down on intricate gold hinges of this age seems unwise but they are quite suitable for wear considering age and fabrication.
Typical antique diamonds with a few natural inclusions some are eye clean and others with some frosty specks. These things can sometimes catch the light to be slightly eye visible if you are seeking it out. It would not be seen while wearing. No really large inky spots. Wonderful antique diamonds in their all original settings and these are quite bright and white. Just a few slightly varying hues but overall bright and well matching, lively stones.
A worn prong here or there as expected for age and all original condition. None of the stones move or are in immediate danger, but something to keep an eye on over time or consider a few tips here or there if planning to wear really heavily.
No chips or damage of any kind. These have all the design attributes that make these antique originals always so popular.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
