ABOUT:

I love tricolor gold and this piece has so many fun elements. With ornate filigree work in white gold, the forget me not flowers really pop in contrasting rose and green gold. At the center is a uniquely cut very pale, blue topaz, rectangular in shape with faceting almost like a French cut.

The piece is hallmarked for Ostby and Barton with the addition of the Maltese Cross, which is the mark for the designer Englehart Ostby. Meaning, that it was his design and creation (not just a later company piece) and that it was therefore made before he sadly perished aboard the Titanic in 1912.

Ostby & Barton company was established in 1879 making their pieces interesting and collectible in their own right for their beautiful craftsmanship. But further interest in these pieces is due to the Titanic connection, making it appealing to collectors in that area as well.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:

Currently measures a size 5 1/2. Weighs 2.4 grams. The stone is about 8x6.5mm.

CONDITION NOTES:

The piece seems as if it was hardly worn with a gorgeous sheen and polish to the stone and very little surface wear. Perhaps the tiniest nibble to a facet here or there, but really only seen under magnification. The stone does move in the bezel and clicks when you tap it or shake it, but it is secure.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
