ABOUT:
Of all the ring requests I receive, the old mine cut cluster is the one in highest demand. And this one is quite sweet with a lovely sparkle from the 9 old mine cuts totaling around 0.7 carat total weight in diamonds. The center stone is really interesting, free form in cut. It is a chunky cushion cut old mine cut with a high crown and a single row of long triangular scissor cut facets at the crown. One end of the table rises higher than the other making it somewhat oblong. This isn't really seen by the eye and it is a small stone, but it is a fun one to study as we antique diamond enthusiasts always love uniquely cut antique hand cut stones.

Found in France with French hallmark for 18k gold used primarily in the 1800s and discontinued by the early 1900s. The ring face is topped in platinum as was customary for the period to set the diamonds in a white metal (it was thought to increase their brilliance). They didn't hallmark back then for the contrasting tops but we know it is platinum since the piece was made before white gold reached prominence in the 1920s.

I have a similar one that is similar in scale but it is a higher carat that reads a bit more compact with the way the diamonds are set. For this one, the diamonds are smaller and the carat weight is lower but the platinum topped setting serves as an illusion setting showing the white metal spread between the stones to make them look larger. Please note the measurements. A timeless classic with exceptional sparkle factor.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 6 3/4
The center diamond is a very chunky cut, 3.7mm cushion shaped and a little over .2 carat. The eight outlining diamonds are about 2.2 to 2.5mm each give or take totaling about half a carat. I do not remove the stones from the setting for exact carat weight but estimates to around 0.7 carat total weight in diamonds.

Ring face: 12x9mm
Height off finger: 5.3mm tall.
Weight: 3.3g.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Typical antique diamonds with some faint frosty inclusions, none are frosty all the way through, but rather just a slightly visible to very slightly visible spec here or there. The center stone has a few very small carbon specks seen under magnification.

A few worn prongs as expected for age - on one side of the center stone and then one outside prong on one of the halo diamonds, but none of the stones move. This is typical and expected for age on an all original antique piece and something to keep an eye on over time while considering gentler wear.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
