ABOUT:
Halo rings are always very popular in my shop but this one is made even more special by the oval shape and the mix of old cut diamonds. The center of the ring face holds two larger old mine cuts surrounded by fourteen rose cut diamonds. It's cobblestone texture serves as an illusion setting give the ring face a nice texture and chunky sparkle.

The halo of trapezoidal carre cut sapphires are channel set to add a wonderful pop of color. The sapphires don't show much variation from one to the next so they are likely synthetic as it was such a popular choice for the period. Comfortable to wear as well with the gracefully domed ring face. There are additional rose cuts set into each shoulder for an added glint of sparkle. It has a beautiful openwork gallery with scrolling details underneath the ring face making it attractive from all sides.

Found in France with their hallmark for 18k gold. The piece is crafted in yellow gold and it is topped in the center in white gold or platinum, as was customary for the time to set the stones in a white precious metal (I don't scratch test tops as I don't wish to leave a mark or damage prongs or stones but this is their typical fabrication).

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 5, a bit snug on the mandrel.

The ring face is 17x13mm and 6mm tall off the finger.
Exact carat weight is unknown as I would never remove the stones from the antique setting.
The two old mine cuts are about 3.3mm / .15 carat each estimated. The fourteen rose cuts are about 2.3mm each give or take and about 1.5mm at each shoulder.

Like most rose cuts they have a lower comparative carat weight than a modern diamond but the surface area gives it the appearance of a larger carat stone. It is difficult to speculate on carat weight when we can’t determine depth without removing them from the setting, but they face up with the appearance of about .6 carats. Adding that to the old mine cuts, it wears as an around .9 carat total diamond weight cluster ring.

The ring weight is 4.3 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Wonderful color and sparkle!~ Typical antique diamonds with some faint natural inclusions. The rose cuts have some frosty spots. Along with some little nibbles, aninclusion carrying up to the surface, and a rough edge here and there. A lot of what you see in the pictures is actually build up behind the ring. I gave it several cleanings, but the small openings behind the stones are hard to get at so it would brighten up even further with a bit more of a gentle soak and brushing, just being careful not to loosen any stones. You can also see some buildup between the cut sapphires. The sapphires are in good condition with just a few tiny abrasions seen only under strong magnification. They are all complete and fill the setting.

Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : ) There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings including the green trees out the window.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
