As most of my followers know, I specialize in antique jewelry but... I also make a habit in general of buying things I like and would wear.
This is an example of that, since it is newly made and a modern era piece. Not typically in my wheelhouse but I saw it, I liked it, I would wear it, and so I bought it : ). When I am out on my sourcing trips, I often buy things that are outside of my norm because I like supporting other small businesses, so if I like it, I go for it : )
A few things drew me to it when I saw it in Sweden on my last inventory trip. The first was the subtle color - it's the palest shade of green and it's just so pretty! I also like the disco ball faceting to the stone which has a domed top and domed underside that allows it to float off the finger. Add that interesting stone to a timeless bezel setting with flared shoulders and I was sold. Just a fun one to wear. Feels lovely to slide off and on the finger with the domed back of the stone.
I learned from the dealer I purchased it from in Sweden that they had sourced it from Spain from a jeweler they work with there. Just like me, they bought it because they liked it and sometimes carried a few of these Spanish pieces in their shop.
The stone is a natural prasiolite which is a semi precious stone and somewhat uncommon. It is often referred to as green quartz or green amethyst and is a member of the quartz family of gemstones. The color is quite subtle, I love it. Kind of seen more in front of a light background or when looking through the stone from the side.
Stamped 750 on the inside which is the numerical hallmark used in Europe for 18k gold. It has another stamp too that I am not familiar with.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
With the stone domed out the back, it doesn't size accurately on a mandrel but seems to fit at about a Size 6 1/2.
The ring face is 11mm north south in the bezel and about 5mm tall, which is the depth measurement of the stone.
The ring weight is 2.2 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
This piece is new so the buyer will be the first owner : )
