ABOUT:
If you follow along with me at MHA, you know I typically concentrate on carrying antique pieces with old cut diamonds. But sometimes I branch out when I see something that speaks to me. : )
In the case of this ring, it's the gorgeously delicious pale yellow color of the radiant cut diamond. In addition, the interesting setting flanks the center stone with unique half moon shaped step cut diamonds. The accent stones are intentionally white / colorless to provide contrast with the fancy light yellow center. Totaling 1.6 carat of color and bright white sparkle. Super sturdy setting, even the prongs are contrasting to add an additional design element.
The eye clean stones were sold to me as VS in clarity which definitely applies as there is really nothing to be found in terms of carbon or even glaring frost inclusions. The one carat approximately center stone is on the spreadier side, facing up larger / closer to 1.4 carat which we always love.
Sturdy setting layers well with other pieces in a unique and timeless setting. It is fun to see the color of the stone and how it varies between lighting conditions. No hallmarks, it tests at 14k gold with 18k gold for the prongs.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and the pictures can make it difficult to see scale. Antique box is not included.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 7 1/2.
The center diamond measures 7.7x5.5mm and about one carat. The half moons are about 5.3x3.5mm and about .3 carat each. Total carat weight of 1.6 carat which is an estimate as I would not remove them, and again facing up larger.
The piece weighs 4.8 grams.
It stands 5.9mm tall off the finger.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Not even a nibble to the diamonds. The center stone is completely eye clean with no detectible inclusions, just the skinniest needle inclusion seen only under strong magnification. The half moons each have one inclusion, a frosty crease to each one on the inside edge, and then one crystal pocket in the corner of one but these are pretty much lost in the faceting and not eye visible. Sturdily set and ready to wear, one outside edge prong to one half moon shows a bit of wear but it is still very stable. A bit of wear to the white gold at the back of the shank showing a warm glow
What a wonderful color to the pale yellow stone! A unique one - the stones and setting!
My items do well without paperwork as they are all one of one and I have not removed the stones to send them for certification.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
