ABOUT:
This ring is a combination of many of my favorite things - sentimental jewelry, floral jewelry (particularly pansies), French traditional jewelry, Georgian period pieces and antique enamel work. This one has it all.

Easy to see why this was one of my very early personal collection pieces. Despite the black enamel, these were commonly worn as wedding rings, often times by men as well.

Floral details at each shoulder with a blank rectangular signet face that could be engraved if desired. Beautiful antique rosy and buttery gold patina. The pansy flower was used in Victorian times as a symbol of remembrance. The name "pansy" is derived from the French word pensée, "thought". It universally meant "think of me," so it would also serve as a very thoughtful or romantic gift.

Found in France with their Georgian period hallmark, used in the early 1800s and then discontinued.
Please note the detailed measurements that I always provide, as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures where I am required to show zoomed in detail.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 7. Ring face is 5.4mm north to south, It weighs 2.7 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

The back of the shank has a break, probably at the join mark that was weakened by being stamped there so it split from age. I happily wore it in this state constantly for years as I preferred to have the original hallmark verifying the early 1800s age of the piece to be preserved, over having the back re-connected which would likely muddle the hallmark. Perfectly wearable, not uncomfortable. Considering age of 200 years I embrace these quirks in my antique jewelry as I am not looking for "like new". It's possible your local jeweler would weld the inside only and smooth it with a few beads from a laser welder to hopefully keep the provenance intact.

Some loss to the enamel on each side but still very legible.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

All items hand picked by me, one at a time from all over the world. All listings individually written by me, and not AI, after studying each piece to discuss its beauties and its ; ) eccentricities (which I am picky to point out).

Many of my listings include group shots – I find the comparisons between pieces help show scale, diamond hues, etc. All items in group shots are inventory, but refer to the website to see what items have sold out and to watch for new listings from the grouping to appear on the home page.
