ABOUT:

I love the versatility and stackability of gypsy bands, especially the chunky ones that also make a statement piece worn alone, but the unique coloring on this one is what stopped me in my tracks. I have found it somewhat uncommon to find Emerald gypsy bands, (I most often find them with just diamonds or sapphires) but to find this one with the wonderful pear shaped natural emerald flanked by two old mine cut diamonds, I feel is quite special. Especially in such a sturdy 18k buttery gold setting. Nice thickness to domed ring face.

The gypsy ring was incredibly popular during the Victorian era into the early 1900s and its timeless design remains an ever favored and wearable choice for today. This ring is substantial enough to wear alone but also layers well with other pieces. Rings such as this were also a popular choice for men to wear during this period as well so it is a true unisex ring.

HALLMARKS:
I purchased this in France. No hallmarks remain which is common for French pieces as they are marked in the back and often lost during a sizing or from wear. But sold to me from a reputable source in France where the standard is 18k and tested to confirm.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:
The ring is a size 9 on my mandrel.

The center emerald is about 8x7mm. The diamonds are each about 3.5mm, one with a really high crown.

The ring face is 10mm north south and domes 3mm off the finger.
The ring weight is a sturdy 7.4 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Typical antique emerald with some nicks and matte finish on the facets from surface wear. It has a nice glow and sheen and does not appear dull but it has frosty inclusions throughout which somewhat mask the surface wear. One diamond is eye clean, the other has some speck inclusions very slightly eye visible if at all. No damage to the diamonds. The bezels are a bit uneven. One diamond has a high crown and domes out more than the other which sits lower in the setting, moves slightly and whose pavilion sticks out the back. I did not find it uncomfortable to wear and all the stones are secure, it is just the setting that is allowing the diamond to shift slightly when you apply pressure.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : ) There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings including the green trees out the window.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

Thanks so much for looking at my items!
