PERIDOT Antique Rose Cut DIAMOND Lemon Lime Green 18k Gold Platinum French Cruciform Ring Belle Epoque
PERIDOT Antique Rose Cut DIAMOND Lemon Lime Green 18k Gold Platinum French Cruciform Ring Belle Epoque
ABOUT:
Gorgeous setting to this French antique ring from the early 1900s crafted in 18k gold and platinum. A center lemon lime square cushion cut peridot with beautiful color and glow is surrounded by rose cuts in a cruciform design. Propped off the finger with a bit of height to catch the light, the rose cuts glint in settings topped in platinum as was customary for the period to set the diamonds in a white metal.
Eye catching size and form that adds a fun shape and color to a ring stack.
Found in Paris. French hallmark or 18k gold and platinum.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and the pictures can make it difficult to see scale.
Antique box is not included.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 4 1/2 - questions about sizing are best asked to your local jeweler who would be doing the work. Usually they say within 2 sizes is a good guide but opinions vary when it comes to modern jewelers comfort level working on antiques. Sometimes a quick call and texted / emailed photo can be helpful.
Ring face is 15mm north to south and east west on the finger and stands 4.7mm tall off the finger.
The piece weighs 4.15g. The peridot is 8.5mm
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The peridot is in excellent condition for age with a gorgeous color, gloss and sheen. It has one nick to the table facet that my eyes see mostly under strong magnification. The prongs are in great shape but the peridot moves and clicks in the setting. I'm not sure if this is something a jeweler could tighten? But the stone is in no danger of falling out because of the prong length.
Typical antique rose cuts with some frosty spots, two with nibbles to the girdles but they are small so it is not glaring.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
