ABOUT:

Oh the drama - I'm in love! Impactful sparkle and beautiful color to this c1900 antique large navette ring set with center oval pink tourmaline and 38 (!) old rose cut diamonds. She is quite special with antique pink tourmaline rings so sought after right now.

Measuring 1 1/4 inch north south on the finger, its drama is increased by the tiers of stones totaling around 2 carats in rose cut diamonds. The large navette shape lozenge has a cobblestone appearance in the background, leading to a slightly raised halo of rose cuts surrounding the slightly further raised oval pink tourmaline. This tiered fabrication also allows the ring face to slightly curve, so it gracefully drapes across the top of the finger making it a bit more comfortable considering the wide face of the ring.

The piece is in 18k gold (tested) with a warm, rosy patina, with the ring face topped in platinum as was customary to set diamonds in a white metal. The tourmaline bezel is gold to provide a color contrast and tie in with the shank. Apologies that there has been zero sun in dear old Minnesota this week. I'll try to update the video on the next sunny day : )

So regal, it really is a head turner. With the beautiful pink shade of the tourmaline have a slightly dusty rose peachy warmth to it in some light.

Antique box not included.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

The shank is oval. I'm not sure if this was done in a sizing to size it down without bending the shoulders as much since the ring face is wide? It won't fit snugly on a sizer mandrel but it seems to fit around a 6 3/4. The inside opening of the shank is about 19.5x15mm.

The ring face is 32x16mm and stands 6mm off the finger. The piece weighs a sturdy 6.7 grams. The shank is nice and thick at the shoulders, so also very stable.

The tourmaline is about 9x7mm.
The six largest diamonds at the top and bottom points are about 3mm each. The rest are about 1.8 to 2.2mm in side.

Exact depths and thereby carat weight are unknown as I would not remove the stones. They are typical antique rose cut diamonds with flat backs. They vary in depth. Just using online estimations for rose cuts by mm, I am getting around 2 carats / 2 ctw in diamond weight with the 38 diamonds.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. The tourmaline has a beautiful color, sheen and polish to the table but does have some nibbles and abrasions, especially to one area of side facets. There are also abrasions and scuffs to a few spots on the underside of the stone - these are not really seen while wearing, rather detected when you use lit magnification to look through the stone.
Typical antique rose cut diamonds with some frosty spots, natural inclusions, rough or unpolished edges, a handful of them have chips or nicks or loss to one edge. These antique diamonds were cut by hand some of them may have always been this way. They have that untamed sparkle with a wonderful antique look but if you study it close up you can see irregular edges, please use the zoom feature in the photos.
Also typical for age in that the bezels are wearing so this one needs somewhat gentler wear. None of the stones move but there are some gaps and spaces so the diamonds aren't surrounded. This is something to always keep an eye on with antique jewelry in original condition. Of course re-enforcement is always possible if desired by your local jeweler (you'd want to find someone with a laser welder) but most of my buyers opt for special occasion wear and original condition, as we'd typically always want to do the minimum possible in reinforcing. Such a Fun piece to wear as it is large and so sparkly!
But Due to age - please note this is not a mint condition item and needs gentler wear which aligns with the large size and fanciness of the piece anyway : ).

Thanks so much for looking at my items!
