ABOUT:
A chunky eight stone brilliant cut diamond half hoop / half eternity band. The diamonds total around 1.1 carat and are nested into the top half of the band. My favorite part though is the engraving on the vertical edge of each side of the band, all the way around with ornate scrolling details.
The piece is thick and sturdy all the way around, similar to an eternity band, with the engravings all the way around as well, but the stones are only across the top. Kind of nice in that you don't have to worry about stones coming into contact with surfaces on the palm side of the hand.
These are the older brilliant cut diamonds but not as old as transitional and old mine cut.
Would be fun to nest with other bands. I have a platinum half hoop coming up this layers well with.
French hallmark for platinum and a goldsmith stamp.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and the pictures can make it difficult to see scale. Antique box is not included.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6 3/4, a little under.
3.8mm north south by 2.4mm tall off the finger.
The piece weighs a sturdy 6.4 grams.
The diamonds are each about 3.3mm for a total carat weight of about 1.1 carat.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
It's a sturdy piece when it comes to the shank but a worn bead prong here or there, so this one needs gentler wear as each stone is held by four bead prongs and with wear to one, the stone can shift a bit. None come free and they are all still held in place but something to keep an eye on over time as it is not for daily wear. You'd want to discuss the cost of reinforcement with your local jeweler if desiring more regular wear (recommend finding someone with a laser). Most of my buyers prefer original condition and gentler wear so I am selling it as such. No chips or nicks. Some small frosty speck inclusions here or there but they have a wonderful sparkle. One seems to have a slightly more gray hue under lit magnification but overall well matching when you aren't seeking it out. No dark or carbon spots. Nice and thick band.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
