ABOUT:
A rare 1700s Georgian Era crowned heart ring!

Fabulous antique look to this figural piece with the gorgeous pear cut golden yellow topaz that has some lovely peachy hues. We always recognize these Georgian hearts by their pear / almost turnip shape, which were the early iterations of the heart motif. Back then they didn't have the technology to make more intricate heart cut gems so this is how we always see them from the period. So beautiful.

The topaz is surrounded by a halo of free form antique diamonds with the crown above. Some of them are elongated, all hand cut and chosen to fill in the space around the halo. With a sleek and smooth domed back also textbook for the period. The ring face is older than the shank which is still antique, but later, from the early 1900s.

The piece has no hallmarks which is common for the period but is crafted in 18k gold with the diamond settings topped in silver.

Antique box / props not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:

Size 9 but sizable with the ring head being propped up by the shank. Best to discuss with the person doing the work to determine the extent they feel comfortable with.
Weight 6 grams
Ring face is 20mm north south and 14.7mm and 7.2mm tall off the finger.
The diamonds vary, 2.2mm for the smallest in the crown to 5mm long for the elongated ones.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The piece is a collector's piece over 250 years old so it has plenty of evidence of age. One of the diamonds at about 7 o'clock is secured with adhesive which I didn't notice when I purchased it so I am selling it as is at about what I paid unfortunately : ). This is one of those where it can often be the best to leave well enough alone. The ring can't be soaked and using heat to re-set the stone would likely cause brightening and discoloration that would stick out like a sore thumb. So since it's wearable as is, I am selling it as is, for gentle wear due to its incredible age. It is a striking figural piece.

There are some nicks and scratches to the topaz as expected for age - if this was not the case we'd have major concerns about the authenticity of the ring. It still has a lovely sheen overall and a beautiful happy golden yellow color with some peachy hues. The diamonds also show signs of age with warm to gray to cognac hues from the age to the closed foil back. Some of this is also from the wonky custom cuts and the way they reflect the light with more primitive and irregular hand cut faceting. None of the stones move but the three at the bottom of the heart are the ones with the most wear, some nicks and frosty edges and some gaps between the edge of the stone and the silver settings. The diamonds do sparkle though!

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
