ABOUT:
This one is quite the bauble! Nice size and attention grabbing sparkle to this French antique rose cut diamond daisy cluster ring. I love the shape and the way the "petals" extend out from the center raised stone. These are difficult to find in open back settings - so often rose cuts are in foiled settings. And the center stone is quite clear!

The piece is in 18k gold, with the ring face topped in silver as was customary for the period to set diamonds in a white metal. The rose cuts vary in form, the center being quite clear, with several in the halo somewhat triangular in shape. With the eight outlining diamonds, these are all clustered together with additional accents at the ring shoulders propping them up in the crown like setting. Classic French design - the daisy cluster with raised shoulders.

Super eye catching and very sparkly - a fun piece to wear! Varying depths to the diamonds - I just love the untamed, some would say moody appearance of old rose cut diamonds. With less facets they have that special antique sparkle. This one is also interesting in that some of the diamonds appear almost see through and then with movement, the surface facets catch the light to provide that flash of winks and glitter.

My last similar ring flew off the shelf so I am excited to offer this one with even larger stones in a spready setting as I am not often able to source them. Found in France with their dual hallmark for 18k gold and silver.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6

The ring face is 15.5mm in diameter and 7.5mm tall off the finger.
Exact carat weight is unknown as I would never remove the stones from the antique setting. They are not all perfectly round and the depth of each is varied as some are sliced quite thin. But using estimations for rose cuts, it calculates to around 1.7 carat total weight. Again this is an estimate as they are thin disks.
The center diamond is 6.5mm and sliced thin. The other ten outlining diamonds are 3.5 to 4mm each give or take.
Like most rose cuts these have a lower comparative carat weight than a modern stone, but the surface area gives it the appearance of a larger carat stone. If these were brilliant cuts with pavilions below the stones, it would be about 3 carats total weight in diamonds so that gives you an idea of how it "faces up" size wise.
The ring weight is 3.4 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Many more images can be found on my website.

These rose cut clusters with open backs are difficult to find which is why I jumped on it when I saw it. However the girdle edges of some of the diamonds show some wear. If they were in better shape, I'd be listing this for more but I always study each piece and take all those things into account so please seek these notes out in the photos which zoom the stones much more than what would be seen to the eye while wearing.

The center stone is quite clear but has several nibbles around the girdle edge. The prongs are excellent and it still appears complete and round but you can see some of the edges are rough and this can reflect a bit of frostiness around the outline of the stone. The top side is nice and glossy.

The outlining diamonds do also have wear. Two have chips and the others either have nibbles around the girdles leaving a rough edge and/or a few natural inclusions or frosty spots. As well as uneven and non uniform cuts. They most often look this way on rose cut pieces of this age. Five of them display a warmth to their coloring. It is nice that none of the stones appear frosty all the way through. The center stone is very secure but some wear to the bezels. None of the stones move so this is something to keep an eye on over time. I can see some gaps between the bezel edges and the edges of the stones so it's tough to say for sure how tightly they are pinched in there. As with the majority of all antique jewelry, gentler wear is recommended.

Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : ) There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings including the green trees out the window.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
