ABOUT:

This was meant to be a personal collection piece but the tax man came for me - tee hee! : )

I haven't seen one like this before. Really fine craftsmanship to this large diamond solitaire bracelet. The ornament on the face of the bracelet is also the clasp, with black enamel decorating all sides. The insert part of the clasp is also decorated with ornate enamel swirls and the tongue insert is hinged to allow the clasp to move as it adorns the wrist. This piece really shimmers, glows and sparkles with such a striking design.

The star here is the large old mine cut diamond that just grabs the attention at the top of the bracelet. Running into the clasp are four strands of gold liquid chain. The bracelet is very snake like, both with the movement of the chains, but also the triangular shaped "head" that holds the diamond.

Just a really unique and interesting piece. Note that it is meant for a Petite Wrist! I have a 5.5 inch wrist and it fits me well.

Comes as pictured WITH an antique box with gold foil lettering inside the lid. Not original to the piece but definitely collectible and has value on its own.

Fabulous antique look. French hallmark stamped on the tongue insert, the entire piece is 18k solid gold (plus the diamond plus the enamel).

Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

MEASUREMENTS:

The old mine cuts is an eye catching size, around 5.7mm in diameter, at least 3/4 carat (0.75ctw). I would never remove the stone from the antique setting and it has a closed back so exact depth is not known so this is just using estimates by millimeter.

It weighs 13.9 grams. The diamond clasp is about 25x15mm by 10mm deep with the sort of puffy heart shape. These are the measurements when the two sides of the clasp are inserted together. It is only about 6 inches around the outside with a tape measure wrapped around it. It has a safety chain allowing it to be opened to fit a wider wrist. I have a 5 1/2 inch wrist and it fits me well. It does spin around without opening the clasp so it could fit a slightly larger wrist, but not much, as I can't remove it or slide it much higher up my wrist without opening the clasp.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

There is a slightly eye visible indented natural inclusion on one edge facet leaving a small crease at the surface like an arched line - GIA defines this as a dent that occurs under the surface of a diamond as a result of the diamond cutter's decision not to polish it off, because doing so could end up harming the diamond so the cutters would work around it - this is not considered a defect or blemish but a natural characteristic of the stone. Under magnification there is some light spotting to the back of the diamond from age to the closed setting. Also under magnification some nibbles to the girdle edge, not eye visible at all.

When I acquired it, there was some patina to the chains, perhaps it was stored next to something silver : ). This brightened up with a cleaning but you might see a bit of a different hue to the gold patina if you are studying the four strands side by side. There also appears to be one weld to one chain where the liquid movement is lacking and it is more fixed, but it was so tidily done, it does not much interrupt the chain pattern.

The clasp is excellent with the hinge still tight. Very secure to wear.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

I have many more antique pieces listed so please see my other items and thanks for stopping by!
