Rectangular French Antique Rose Cut CHAMPAGNE Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Chunky TANK Ring 18k Rose Gold

I am back from my inventory trips to Europe and listing an assortment of hand picked antique jewelry which I have selected one at a time from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!

ABOUT:

My favorite things about this piece are the two champagne old mine cuts right at the center for a subtle but interesting color contrast. This sturdy rectangular ring has great geometry, sleek and glowing rosy gold and an encrusted rectangular face give this piece many wonderful elements. The chunky 10 old mine cuts are held up on a platform with rose cuts in a line of five one tier above and below. This gives the ring face a cobblestone / pave texture. And the color contrast of the two champagne old mines in the middle add a fun and unique design accent.

The ten old mine cut diamonds in the center have crown facets that are long and triangular scissor cuts with really high crowns. (Mine cuts typically have three rows of facets to the crown whereas these have the single row of long facets). Some are more square shaped but with the still softened cushion cut corners. Extra chunky with that great antique sparkle. Perhaps a combination of a French cut / Old Mine Cut ? as diamond cutters at the time used their personal knowledge, taste and expertise to enhance each diamond. It is always fun to find uniquely cut antique diamonds!

Substantial hand feel and beautiful, shiny rose gold, as I wear it now, the mirrored finish glows a reflection off the adjacent fingers and the sparkle is to die for.

French hallmark for 18k gold.

Antique boxes, props, staircases and bannisters ; ) not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 7 1/4. Ring face is 15x11mm and 4.8mm tall off the finger. The tall shoulders are as wide as the face and taper towards the back but remains quite wide. It weighs 6 grams.

Exact depths of the diamonds and thereby exact carat weight is unknown / approximate but using estimates it is around .8 carats in diamonds. The largest center OMCs are 2.3 to 2.5mm each and the rose cuts are 1.5 to 2mm each.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

As mentioned the center two are champagne diamonds which we love to find in antique stones - this is an intentional (and fabulous : ) design choice.

Typical antique diamonds with some faint natural inclusions and a tiny flea bite here or there, none of which are eye visible.

The rose cuts are also typical for antique rough, hand cut stones with some frosty spots, irregular edges and facets, some nicks and wear. They provide a nice and "crusty" untamed sparkle to serve as the backdrop to the old mine cuts.

There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
