ROSE Flower 18k Gold French Antique Art NOUVEAU Victorian Pendant Figural Green Red Vermeil

ABOUT:

Beautiful antique 18k gold pendant in the shape of a rose flower with lifelike details down to the curled petals and extending stem which reaches up to the loop to hang from a chain.

This is a French antique piece from the Belle Epoque period in 18k gold with some sort of coloring where the leaves are coated in a subtle green tint and the recesses of the rose petals are a warm bronze coloring, sort of brownish pink maroon which makes no sense but is hard to describe. : )

Studying it under magnification, it is not enamel or vermeil / gold wash. It appears as a sort of painted effect which has aged beautifully to provide contrast but remain quite subtle with rich patina and a very antique look, with darkening in the recesses to make the highly detailed Art Nouveau designs stand out. Very unique design and repousse fabrication not frequently seen. The back is flat.

Found in France with their hallmark for 18k with a goldsmith stamp.

MEASUREMENTS:

The piece measures 25mm in height from the bottom of the flower to the top of the attached loop (not including jump ring) by 16mm. It weighs 1.5 grams and I believe has vacant space between the back panel and the raised flower, like repousse work.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Really nice condition with no dings or dents. Some patina and the recesses, but I didn't want to over scrub it because of the colored application that the piece has. Rich and warm colors in a beautiful glow, very unique goldwork.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
