ABOUT:
Can't ever get enough gypsy bands and this is a fun one with center blue sapphire flanked by a smaller green emerald on each side. French retro vintage piece with a chunky domed setting. Sturdy piece in 18k solid gold with a fun pop of color and still stackable.
The sapphire has a nice blue color with some greenish hues in some light.
Hallmarked on the back of the shank with goldsmith stamp and French mark for 18k gold. Sturdy hand feel.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
The ring is a size 6 1/2 on my mandrel. It is slightly over but the center of the shank does not cross the 6 3/4 line so it sits right between those two.
The ring face is 8.4mm north south and 3.2mm off the finger.
The ring weight is 7.6 grams.
The sapphire is 6x5mm and the emeralds are about 2.4mm.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Some surface scratches can catch the light due to the mirrored finish of the domed gold. Just a few tiny nibbles to the sapphire facets, five or so seen only under strong magnification. The emeralds are cut with flatter crowns and domed pavilions (vs. gemstones that come to a point). On the underside of each there are some nicks and abrasions and one with some tiny creases/ hairlines, probably the result of inclusions reaching the surface. The stones are still stable and in no danger of cracking through or falling out (unless met with some extreme blunt force), but you can see those things on the underside when they sometimes catch the light looking through the stone while wearing it.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : ) There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings including the green trees out the window.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
