SHIELD Cut Carnelian Chunky Signet Ring 9k Gold Ornate Scrolled Edwardian Man or Unisex Band Stacker Figural Platform

ABOUT:
A personal collection release but this one is from "Grandma Mouse" (my mom). She purchased this a few years back when she and I, along with my dad to chauffeur us, took a sourcing trip to the UK together - "the Three Musketeers!" My sweet mom actually started an online business on eBay before I did, she specializes in costume jewelry, bakelite, gold fill lockets, fobs and chains, etc. (Shameless plug - feel free to check her out on eBay - Linda's Treasures of the Past" : )

Anyway, the three of us took a fun little trip to shop for jewelry for both of our shops. I had planned to buy this ring for offer in my shop but she loved it and decided to keep and wear. Well fast forward a bit and when I gave her the pansy signet I had previously listed as a gift, she decided she didn't have room for this one anymore. We both try to keep our personal collections pretty humble and like to rotate pieces in and out : ). So while she enjoyed this one, it is time for its new home.

And that's the story of this ring! I love figural pieces so the shield cut carnelian and the scrolled shoulders make this antique ring quite a stunner. Crafted in 9k gold but with a beautiful antique patina giving it a slightly rosy hue, it is hallmarked for 9k, Birmingham, date stamp 1914.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.

Ring face is 14mm north south by 3.5mm tall off the finger.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Evidence of a sizing with some paler hues to the gold in a few spots on the back of the shank but the ring face and shoulders are excellent. The carnelian is really nice and shiny considering age of over 100 years with not a lot of surface wear, just a few nicks and a scratch seen mostly under magnification. Shank is a bit blunt on the edge from age and wear. Some fabrication marks inside the back of the ring face not seen while wearing with some casting marks and the rest of the hallmark.

Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
