ABOUT:
This is a special one that has somehow managed to remain in one piece despite the incredibly intricate hand made fabrication. A gorgeous French antique Victorian era cuff bracelet in 18k gold with large floral clasp set with tricolor gold, rose cut diamond accents and a turquoise forget me not flower at the center. This is a one of a kind piece that could be in a museum or seen on a period piece movie.

The fabrication is very unique with small sheets of gold that are stamped like mesh with tiny ball rivet details and then the thin gold strips were curled to make chain links. They are then connected by a wire system to create a 22mm wide cuff. The large, ornate and chunky clasp is very sturdy and serves as the ornament atop the wrist. With the addition of a safety chain which is scarcely needed as the clasp is so tight and secure.

It has a rich and warm patina in antique yellow gold that is just lovely and tricolor gold of the clasp is a beautiful accent. It's really wonderful to wear. With all the chains it makes a nice cuff on the wrist, but with a still dainty feel from the intricacy of the chains. So elegant and beautiful, and quite unique compared to what can be found on the market.

Antique piece from the Victorian period that I acquired in Paris, France. It is stamped on both loops and the clasp of the safety chain for 18k gold.

Any props or Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:
It is about 6 1/2 inches stretched end to end, not including the tongue insert that gets hidden within the clasp. I have a 5 1/2 wrist and it fits me well. I can't slide it on or off without opening it and it stays pretty well put with the weight of the clasp at the top, though it can spin all the way around. It could fit a larger wrist than mine as I have some room to spare. I could also make it work in a wrist stack but it would fit better for a larger wrist than mine so the ornaments don't spin to the bottom.

It weighs 13.1 grams. The cuff and clasp are 22mm wide north south.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

This piece is incredibly old and dainty in fabrication so it needs gentle wear, especially considering age of around 175 years. Those thin mesh links could easily be crushed or pressed or become more misshapen as there are already several links that are slightly out of oval or have a kink to the edge. Please look for this closely in photos as it is being sold as is.

The chain work is also very delicate making some links not lie the way they originally did from being bent but it is still such an interesting piece. The clasp is excellent. Very sturdy. But the cuff links require very gentle wear and handling. Two links appear to have some gray solder and a bit of dark patina in that area. One also has a different sheen so it looks like heat was used there. It is fully connected and wearable but if someone were to sit on it, crush, pinch it in the jewelry box or pull it from both ends it would certainly come apart. Through no fault of its own so these latter notes are not condition issues, this is just how the incredibly intricate piece was fabricated in antiquity and always has been. I am selling it as is for around what I paid after fees due to its fragile nature, but it is a special piece so I bought it for the love of old jewelry.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
