ABOUT:

My recent sourcing trip was to Spain in addition to France (where I go a few times a year). So this trip, I went with the intention of seeking out some of the traditional Iberian antique jewelry from Spain that is so special and popular now (not to mention incredibly difficult to find in the US).

Georgian era dormeuse style earrings in an interesting starburst floral shape. Each is set with rose cut diamonds that rise up from the star background for sparkle.

They have old 18 stamps on the back for 18k gold. Unique and interest design, they look beautiful worn. These are the types with the hooked ear wire the is inserted from the back of the ear to the front, and then hooked into a catch at the front of the earring.

Beautiful, sturdy, traditional, regional and ready to wear!

Any props / boxes not included.
Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

20mm from the top of the ear wire to the bottom of the star by 17mm wide.

The pair weighs 5 grams combined.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
I am selling these for what I paid, I bought a lot of pieces at retail in Madrid just because I liked them and wanted to bring pieces home to offer it so these have no upcharge or finder's fee : ).
The diamonds are the super old rough cut rose cuts that appear more like shards, free form in shape. They are small so they are just meant to add a glint of sparkle. They are all quite frosty from natural inclusions having been cut during a time when very few people could afford diamonds and they were cut in much more limited supply. One top diamond is secured with adhesive. It is not really seen by the eye and the setting allows this because the diamonds are set in cupped back gold settings with little prongs. There are some worn prongs here and there so I definitely don't recommend 24/7 wear and we typically avoid lying down on 200 year old gold hinges. But the lever backs work well and hook in securely. With all the stones and delicate settings, they need gentler wear but they are quite striking and interesting. Even if a diamond chip were to be lost over time, it wouldn't really affect the overall look of the earrings with their shape and the setting with the cupped back would still be there to appear complete. Is it just me or does one have a bit darker patina than the other? This wouldn't be noticeable when on opposite sides of the head but it looked to be the case to me when holding them right side by side. Such a great design!

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

All items hand picked by me, one at a time from all over the world. All listings individually written by me, and not AI, after studying each piece to discuss its beauties and its ; ) eccentricities (which I am picky to point out).

Many of my listings include group shots – I find the comparisons between pieces help show scale, diamond hues, etc. All items in group shots are inventory, but refer to the website to see what items have sold out and to watch for new listings from the grouping to appear on the home page.
