I am selling an assortment of vintage to antique jewelry and rings which I have hunted for and gathered from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!

ABOUT:

Wonderful antique Victorian diamond star brooch (which would make an excellent pendant) with fabulous patina and unique design. At the center is a .55 carat old mine cut diamond held up in prongs. It is surrounded by gorgeous overlapping leaf details, each of which are set with rose cut diamonds for added sparkle (20 rose cuts in all). The leaves give the piece a giardinetti feel.

This French antique piece from the 1800s is crafted in warm and rosy 18k gold and topped in silver as was customary for the period to set diamonds in a white metal.

This one is a nice statement piece because of its thickness, with a filigree openwork gold gallery below silver topped setting.

While it is currently a brooch, I could see it easily converted to a pendant, with a loop added to the top or two loops with chain attached, one on each side. I decided to sell it as is and let the wearer convert it to the design they prefer. These statement brooches are also often worn as they are without converting, and using them as extenders or connectors with chains attached to each side.

There are some hallmarks to the vertical edge but they are worn. The pin post also has some stamps that I can't decipher, I think one might be the goldsmith, the other might be from a scratch test, but sold to me as 18k which is the standard in France, with the silver top and tested to confirm. I believe the hinge pin may be brass for strength as it doesn't quite match the rest of the piece.

Antique boxes, chains, props in photos is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

It measures about 33mm and weighs a sturdy 8.7 grams. The center diamond is about 5.2mm and I would say is at least half a carat alone and upwards from there. I couldn't get an exact measurement on the depth of it and didn't want to remove it. The rose cuts are small, about 1.8mm each, but 20 of them adding to that carat weight.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

As with all my pieces this is in estate condition. But this one seems rarely worn - the nice thing about it being a brooch compared to more heavily worn pieces! It has a dark patina from age, usually preferred by antique jewelry enthusiasts, it's quite lovely. Still a nice shine to the silver at the tops of the settings, and rich and warm rosy gold to the base of the piece. No damage. Typical antique diamonds, the center stone has a pocket inclusion above the culet that is slightly eye visible. The rose cuts are typical, irregular, non uniform, with rough and frosty spots, they tend to always look this way from the period, hand cut so long ago and meant to add a glint of sparkle. Trombone clasp is nice and tight so it functions well.
Ready to be worn and enjoyed for another 100 years!
