ABOUT:
My next stock drop is an assortment of charms and pendants! Most of these I purchased on my inventory trips to Europe earlier this summer. A few of these are personal collection releases (wink wink to those of you who know about my garnet hoarding, floral, French, antique jewelry problem - whoopsie!)
A striking blue enamel marquise pendant. Sparkle and color and a wonderful celestial design! Three chunky old mine cut diamonds totaling over .8 carat are set in silver collets with the center stone being eye clean!
This Victorian era piece is inspired by the "Bague au Firmament" from the Georgian era which translates to "Ring of the Heavens." This style became popular due to Marie Antoinette's fondness for them. The blue is meant to look like the night sky, with the twinkling diamonds like little stars.
This pendant is of a similar design with the added white halo inlaid with gold stars.
Sold to me as 18k and tested to confirm. The bale is stamped for 18k but is a later addition, being a more modern design from what would have been there originally. The patina is pretty close match to the back. I'm not sure if it was always a pendant or may have been a pin where the later bale is now added but there are no other smoothed or removed parts to the gold back.
Additional items shown in photos not included, props, dishes, mice ; ) also not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
MEASUREMENTS:
Dimensions: 28mm to the top of the attached loop by 13mm wide. Domed back and chunky diamonds make it 6.8mm deep.
Weight: 3.9g
The center diamond is 4.6mm cushion cut measuring a little over .4 carat alone. The other two are about 3.5mm each. This is measuring the exposed portions as they widen out a further unknown amount in the silver collets. Estimated total carat weight is about 0.83 carat. Again this is an estimate as I would never remove them for an exact measurement.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The center diamond is eye clean and excellent. The smaller diamonds are typical for the period with frosty inclusions here and there, slightly eye visible. The pendant as a whole shows very little wear with no major loss to the enamel except for a few tiny flakes at the top from when heat was used to add the later bale. A bit of cloudy buildup on the enamel around the stones, I didn't want to submerge it.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
I dearly love, wear and sell antique jewelry so please check out my other listings and thanks so much for stopping by my shop!
