ABOUT:
The sweetest little sweetie! An elegant Victorian antique old European cut solitaire in open back setting with a pretty little buttercup design. It holds the diamond up so that it can catch the light. Stone measures about .34 carat.
Warm slightly rosy antique 14k gold holds up the bright white antique diamond.
I got this one in Amsterdam on a recent inventory trip. Exciting to see that it is ready for regular wear as the prongs are in good shape.
No hallmarks remain tests at 14k. Gorgeous rich antique patina.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 5 1/2.
This should be a candidate for sizing as the prongs are good but it's a bit dainty in the back of the shank - but best to discuss with your local jeweler who would be doing the work. Usually they say within 2 sizes is a good guide and they often times make the shank more oval to accommodate sizing without bending the ring face as much.
The diamond is 4.2mm and around a third of a carat.
The ring face is 5.6mm north south and stands 5.2mm off the finger to the top of the diamond.
The ring weight is 1.8 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Beautiful bright color and fire but typical for antique stones it does have some natural inclusions. A small gray carbon formation that is not a solid ink spot so it tends to hide in the faceting and is seen more under magnification. One notch to the girdle edge that appears to be an indented natural inclusion.
Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : ) There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings including the green trees out the window.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
