ABOUT:

I don't know whether to call this one a five stone diamond band or a three stone with accents : ). The three diamonds at center are certainly the star of the show, with one smaller diamond on each end. All the diamonds are old mine cuts with the exception of the lovely center stone which is a transitional cut. This French antique piece is crafted in 18k white gold. The perfect stacker, it appears to have been part of a set where this one was the center and there was a wrap on each side. It stands nice and tall with a bright white color to the diamonds and an excellent sparkle. Quite attention grabbing with the 1 1/3 carats total weight in diamonds that are propped up off the finger.

Found in France, but no hallmarks remain. Sold to me from a reputable source as 18k white gold, 18k is the gold standard in France. French pieces often lack a hallmark as they are marked in the back and often lost during a sizing or from wear.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:
Currently measures a snug size 7 1/2. It weighs a 4.6 grams. Ring face is 6.7mm tall off the finger and the five stones span 20mm across the finger east west.
The center diamond is about 5.8mm and a little over 0.8 carat alone. The side old mine cuts are 3.8 to 4mm each and the two smallest at the ends are about 1.8mm each. Total carat weight estimated is around 1.3 carats total weight in diamonds. I would not remove them for an exact measurement.

CONDITION NOTES:

Typical antique diamond with some faint natural inclusions, the center transitional cut has no eye visible inclusions and just a tiny speck here or there under strong magnification. The old mine cuts also have a nice clarity with just a few small spots that are very slightly eye visible - one stone having some tiny carbon spots. The old mine cuts are warmer in color than the transitional cut, but were cut to face up brighter providing the ring a well matched and bright sparkle.

Rub marks and wear to the gallery as it appears to have been stacked with a band or wrap for most of its life. So the bridge of the ring, the part of the shank closest to the finger has some interruptions to the gold and flattened areas from wear against an adjacent band over years and years. This is seen when you look at the ring from the side.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
