ABOUT:
This one is fun to wear for the pop of color and sparkle! At the center is a vibrant pink, tall natural ruby. This is held up in a domed fypsy setting that is set with twenty little brilliant cut diamonds for sparkle all around the setting.
Note the stone is imperfect but stable with a gorgeous color and glow. I think this is the first one I've had where the setting is diamond encrusted all around, it adds a really fun accent.
Found in Paris with French hallmark for 18k gold along with a goldsmith stamp.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 5 1/4.
The ring face is 8.8mm north south and stands 6.8mm off the finger to the top of the domed center ruby.
The ring weight is 4.37 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
As mentioned the ruby is imperfect with natural inclusions throughout, some carrying up to the surface leaving hairline crazing. It has a nice sheen and polish, gorgeous color and glow but under magnification it looks well loved. The swirling within almost looks like staring into a galaxy but when you study it, I think it may have experienced some sort of trauma as there is a triangular nick on one side and what appears to be a hole in the back of the stone which also shows a crackling finish. There is also adhesive around the inside rim. The adhesive is not visible while wearing and I assume it was used to keep the stone from "clicking" in the bezel setting as sometimes occurs (and not to actually keep the stone together since the back is not flooded). The stone does appear stable, it is not loose, and doesn't have any cracks all the way through but it definitely needs gentler wear as I would think more bangs to the stone could cause those crazing lines and inclusions to create cracks. Still so fun to wear with a unique and captivating setting, but probably not for daily heavy wear. Sold as is so please note and look for these things in pics.
There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because the gold reflects its surroundings. Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : ) There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings including the green trees out the window.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
