ABOUT:

I admit it. I cheated. I asked some of my Instagram followers for help describing this ring. It's not exactly a navette, it's not an oval. It's sort of a peaked.... double teardrop... geometric... shape?

Anyway, I got stuck and asked my IG followers for help and they came through like they always do. : ).
(Hey at least this way you know I never use any AI to write my listings!)

So I introduce you to..... the Armadillo / Firefly / Butterfly Wings / Cuttlefish shaped / Almond / Double tulip / Double Crown / Acorn Shaped / 2 Spiders Abdomens together / soft 8/ hourglass/ infinity / Flying Ladybug / Bombe marquise / Convex Shield Ring!
OR...
"A line of cut rubies with vertical diamond petals that sparkle gently like a morning dew softly against your finger." (Okay, I might use this instagram friend with the English major to write all my listings moving forward haha).

This one jumped out at me for the interesting peaked design with the rough sparkle of the rose cuts and the pop of color from the natural carre cut rubies.

I got this one in Rome. The gentleman I purchased it from... soooo nice, but didn't speak English and I don't speak Italian, so I spoke to him in Spanish (which I studied and traveled for in college) and he spoke back to me in Italian which I could understand alright since there are some similar word formations and... we got by!! It was a great visit and a successful buying appointment! : )

This is an Italian antique ring from the early 1900s, crafted in gold with a silver top. It tests for me at 14k but it has a stamp within that is worn, but to me looks like the number 500 stamped in a cartouche. It's possible the 500 may indicate the 500 parts per thousand / 12k gold so I am selling it as such to be safe. I don't have a 12k test to verify (since it isn't a standard in the USA) but It tests at 14k on a Kee tester. It has a lovely, antique glow.

Antique boxes, props, mice, dishes ; ) not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:

Size 5 3/4. NOTE this piece was sized in the back and the weld spot weakened resulting in a crack through at the back of the ring. I decided to sell it as is in case the buyer planned to have it sized anyway, why fix it and take the time and cost if it quite possibly will be cut to re-size again after purchase? It's actually wearable as is too as the shank is thick. Just a note that it is a break to the gold though, occurring from age, and it was not cut off at the back.

Ring face is 18mm north to south by 10mm and domes 7mm tall off the finger. It weighs 4.1 grams so it is a sturdy piece.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Note above the crack to the back of the shank. Otherwise the ring is plenty sturdy. The rose cuts appear quite warm/gray and frosty as they are the small rough cut disks. Some of this is from buildup behind the tiny openings in the back too, although I did give it a light cleaning, it could use a bit more soaking if desired, but the stones are small and provide a nice glint of sparkle. Some patina to the silver. An interesting and unique piece to be sure! Especially if you are a fan of cuttlefish, armadillos, acorns, butterflies, etc. : )

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

I would be delighted if you'd follow me in my shop. Thanks for stopping by!
