ABOUT:

Here's a fun and flashy one! This French vintage ring features three old cut diamonds - the center an eye clean antique Old European cut diamond measuring one carat. It is flanked by a transitional cut diamond on each side for a total carat weight of around 1.75 carat.

These are set in a fabulous and very sturdy setting with chunky prongs. The center OEC being raised at center, with the transitional cuts tucked below and under. Interesting to see the setting where the three diamonds overlap eachother instead of being split apart.

The stones are of very nice quality, a nice white color and all eye clean!

French hallmark for 18k gold with a goldsmith stamp. Definitely a retro vintage piece, likely taking granny's old Euro cut and resetting it during the transitional period, although the transitionals may be older than the setting as well. The French don't use a date stamp so I always wish I could know all the stories these pieces could tell!

It's a fun one with a timeless design though, great alone but also stacks well with the nice height and sturdy setting. She's clean and tidy and ready for daily wear with the substantial setting.

Antique box not included. Please note the detailed measurements that I always provide, as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures where I am required to show zoomed in detail.

MEASUREMENTS:

The center Old European Cut diamond is 7mm and 1 full carat alone. The flanking transitional cut diamonds are each 4.6mm and about .4 carat each. Total carat weight for all three stones is 1.75 carat. This is an estimate as I would not remove them from the setting for an exact measurement.

Size 6 1/4 - the ring face is 8.4mm north to south, 6.2mm tall off the finger. The three stones in their prongs span 15mm east west.

It weighs a very sturdy 9.2 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

While it is widely accepted by collectors that the warm color of an old cut diamond is part of its appeal, these diamonds are actually quite bright white in color. They are all eye clean with just a tiny needle or speck here or there seen under magnification. Super sturdy prongs, no chips, nicks or cracks.

One thing you might notice in the zoom photos is the way the frosted girdle (outside rim of the stone) can reflect into the pavilion of the center OEC diamond. This can be seen when looking through the stone and is slightly eye visible, however this is not a flaw. It is just how the diamond was cut with the frosted girdle being expected (and providing authenticity) to a stone of this age.

There is a bit of rosy patina to the prongs and recesses of the setting which could be easily polished if desired but most of my buyers prefer original patina. The sturdy shank has a nice high gloss sheen.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )

But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

Thanks so much for looking at my items!
