ABOUT:

Somehow on my last sourcing trip to France I ended up finding three pairs of old mine cut studs, all measuring half a carat total weight in antique old mine cut diamonds. Each slightly different from the next so pick a fave style and stack em up! : )

These timeless studs are two tone 18k gold with the settings and Alpa style push backs in yellow gold, but the prongs in 18k white gold (or platinum, I don't test prongs for fear of damaging) as was customary for the period to set diamonds in a white metal.

The setting serves as an illusion setting with the white gold surround adding size to the diamond.

The push backs are the Alpa style with the spring loaded push buttons to secure them at the end of the earring post. They have little “buttons” on each side so you squeeze the push back to run it down the post. These can be pushed in all the way to the back of the earring, but I noticed they can slide some with pressure. However – they are in No danger of falling off because with the push buttons, they latch onto a little catch at the end of the ear post, meaning the push backs cannot be removed unless you manually press those little buttons on each side. About as secure as you can get for earrings.

Found in France, the push backs are stamped 750 - the numerical hallmarking system used in Europe for 18k gold.

Antique boxes / items in displays in photos are not included.

MEASUREMENTS:
The diamonds are each about 3.7mm, chunky cuts each measuring about .25 carat for a total carat weight of half a carat / 0.5ctw. This is an estimate as I do not remove stones from antique settings for exact measurements. The faces of the earrings with the prongs and outline are 6.2mm.
The pair weighs 2.1 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

The posts are a little bit short compared to some but very wearable.

Typical antique diamonds with natural inclusions, small frosty spots here and there to the old cut stones. Again, mostly seen under magnification since they are small diamonds. Nothing glaring and no dark carbon spots, they are not lifeless stones, rather they have a nice sparkle, despite some frosty spots and slight warmth also typical and expected for antique stones.

Some wear to the prongs to keep an eye on over time. This wear is expected for age. None of the stones move but if desiring 24/7 wear, you may wish to discuss "re-tipping" at least two of the prongs on each earring.

There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it reflects its surroundings. Some surface scratches can catch the light in some lighting conditions due to the shiny mirrored finish.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
