Toi et Moi French ANTIQUE .75 Carat Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Rose Cuts 18k Gold Stacker Band

ABOUT:
A unique toi et moi ring with lovely form and movement and a beautiful sparkle. The piece has a mix of old cut diamonds set in 18k gold topped in platinum. It has a comfort fit shank. The two old mine cut diamonds romantically represent two parts of a couple.

The tradition of giving toi et moi rings to represent the love between two people dates back centuries, but the style was brought to the attention of a wider audience when Napoleon Bonaparte proposed to Joséphine de Beauharnais with one. Other famous rings include the toi et moi given to Jacqueline Onassis by John F Kennedy in 1953, but the popularity of this two-part style of ring was at its peak during the Edwardian and Belle Époque periods.

But it is a timeless design that can be worn as a self gift as well, just for the joy of the design, or to think of ones' parents, two kids, two siblings, etc.

The diamonds are about 4mm / .3 carat each and there are 6 rose cut accents giving us around .75 carat total weight in diamonds. A lovely color and sparkle and fun to see a mix of cuts on one piece as old cut diamonds reflect the light differently. I love the flared shoulders!

I acquired this in France although no hallmarks remain as they are frequently lost in sizing due to their location of stamping on the back of the shank. Sold to me as 18k and platinum from a reputable source and tested to confirm. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from the pics.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6 1/2. The ring face measures 10mm north south and 4.7mm tall off the finger, the piece weighs 3.2g

Still perfectly wearable. There is a nick to one edge facet, faint inclusions seen mostly under magnification. The rose cuts are typical rough cuts hand cut to add a glint of spark.
None of the stones move but I always keep an eye on the worn prongs that we always find on pieces of this age.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
