ABOUT:
Classic and versatile antique Victorian five stone old mine cut diamond band from the late 1800s. I try to acquire as many as I can because they are so stackable and wearable that they are always very popular. This one is a just right footprint with about 1.5 carat total in old mine cut diamonds.
I always love to find these rings with the little gemset prongs / rose cut diamond spacers between the larger old mine cuts like this one has. They add an additional glitter and a wonderful texture filing in all the spaces with that crustily encrusted diamond glitter.
In glowing 18k gold with scrolled shoulders holding five old mine cut diamonds that graduate slightly in size. Found in the UK with their hallmark for 18k gold and a goldsmith stamp.
Also exciting to find - The prongs have been reinforced so this one is ready for regular wear.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box not included.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
It is a size 6. It weighs 3.3 grams. Ring face is 5.2mm north to south and 4.3mm tall off the finger.
The largest center stone is about 4.5mm, flanked by two stones around 4.1mm each and the end stones are about 2.5 and 2.7mm. Chunky cuts. I would not remove them for exact measurements and exact depths are unknown but estimates to about 1.2 carat total weight in diamonds plus the diamond spacers. The gemologist at the place that sold it to me estimated it at 1.4 carat but I am listing at 1.2 carat to be on the conservative side.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Selling at my cost / what I purchased it for in England.
Of the diamond spacers, 9 of the 10 are present. One is vacant but I decided to sell it as is because sometimes gluing in or repairing would cause those areas to stand out even more than just having the little settings vacant. The settings almost serve as an illusion setting so I don't find it glaring that one is missing but something to look for in photos, and of course having them replaced by your local jeweler is always an option, I just found it quite pretty as is.
Comfortable and sturdy, ready to wear.
Typical antique diamonds with natural inclusions. The three center stones each have a carbon spot two are eye visible, the other less so. Ornate setting and a wonderful chunky sparkle. I didn't notice these things during my speed buying sourcing trip so I am selling this one at my cost with no finders fee ; )
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
Thanks so much for looking at my items!
